In the case of dropship wholesalers, no inventory is ever actually handled, and the wholesaler does not have to take possession of the wholesale bulk merchandise. They take orders from stores or factories and coordinate delivery from the maker to the end user. From when the contract is made with the manufacturer to when the buyer in acceptable condition receives the items, the drop shipper retains ownership of the goods. These kinds of wholesalers can be found in high-volume marketplaces for commodities like coal, oil, and lumber.
